Green-up Day is May 5th. We will meet at Sycamore Park at 9 AM just like last year. Depending on the turn out we will make assignments on the New Haven River for clean up. We will have refreshments including coffee, cider, and donuts while we prepare to begin. The Bristol Cub Scouts have volunteered to help again this year. We can only hope it is a warm and sunny day. See you there.
When: May 8th
Where: The Swift House in Middlebury
Time: 7 PM, meet and greet at 6:30
The speakers will feature a program by Rhey Plumbley and his wife Sheila.
For many it is a once in a lifetime trip, to fish for Atlantic Salmon on the George River (off Ungava Bay) in northern Quebec. This will be an exciting program with pictures to accompany the talk. Rhey and Sheila have taken many exciting trips over the years.
Trout in the classroom
Our scheduling for release days for our various schools are starting to take shape.
The Bridge School will be at Sycamore Park in Bristol on May 18.
Mary Hogan will have their release at Robert Frost in Ripton on May 23rd.
Salisbury Elementary School will have a release at Robert Frost followed by a trip to the Salisbury Fish Hatchery on June 5th.
The other schools pending are Mt. Abe, Vergennes, Shoreham, and Lincoln Schools.
Assisting State Fish Stocking
The dates for required assistance will require some volunteers to help move trophy trout from the trucks into the river. They take place on East Creek in Rutland, Otter Creek in Danby, and the Walloomsac River in Bennington.
In the past this program has taken place at Eagle Park in Lincoln. It may be combined with the State Fish and Wildlife Program entitled Let's Go Fishing. It usually occurs in July.
